What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?
Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university qualified allied health professionals. They specialise in exercise prescription and the delivery of evidence based exercise, lifestyle and behavioural modification programs for the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases, complex medical conditions and musculoskeletal injuries.
What types of conditions can benefit from exercise?
Accredited Exercise Physiologists help people to manage and improve a broad range of conditions including diabetes, heart disease (including cardiac rehabilitation), obesity and weight management, chronic respiratory diseases and asthma, osteoporosis, arthritis, cancer, chronic musculoskeletal conditions/injuries, depression, mobility restrictions and falls prevention, neurological conditions, workplace or injury rehabilitation, and many more.
Customised exercise programs for any age, any fitness, any condition
Exercise does not have to mean hitting the treadmill at a gym, lycra, or fancy equipment. An individual and customised exercise program will be developed for you that is designed to meet both your health and fitness goals - and that you can do when and wherever you please. You will be helped to develop strategies to undertake regular, enjoyable and habitual exercise to improve your health long term.

Subsidised Exercise Physiology treatment upon referral from your GP
Some people who have a chronic health or musculoskeletal condition can be referred through the Enhanced Primary Care program as part of their yearly care plan with their GP. This can assist with the cost associated with seeing an Exercise Physiologist. The Department of Veteran’s Affairs may also cover Exercise Physiology treatment for eligible patients when referred by their GP, along with Return to Work SA.
Ask your GP, or contact us for further information and eligibility.
No referral necessary, and private health insurance rebates may apply
Anyone can see an Exercise Physiologist, and a large number of health funds cover AEP services (check with your fund for confirmation). Ring for an appointment to get started.
