Running assessments

Are you a runner or thinking about getting into running? We’re here to support you at every stage of your running journey.

By assessing your current running ability, a personalised, evidence-based training plan designed to help you reach your goals safely and effectively can be designed just for you.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲:
  • Suffering from pain or an injury that is limiting their ability to run.
  • Wanting advice and guidance around an exercise program to achieve their running goals.
  • Looking to improve their running technique.
  • Wanting to undertake regular running and reduce risk of injury.

The running assessment is suitable for all experience levels. Whether you’re just starting out, enjoying weekend parkruns, or preparing for your next marathon. No matter where you are in your journey, we’ll help you run stronger, smarter, and with confidence.

  • During your initial assessment, our exercise physiologist will discuss your running and exercise history, previous and current injuries, and goals related to your running.
  • They will also assess your strength, mobility, and running technique to better understand how they can best help you to achieve your goals.
  • Once this information is obtained, our Exercise Physiologists can create and prescribe an exercise routine based on the findings to help you achieve your goals.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁:
The initial assessment will go for approximately 45 minutes, followed by a 30 minute follow up appointment. We ask that you wear or bring:
  • the shoes that you most commonly wear while running.
  • We also ask that you wear comfortable running clothes, try to avoid wearing baggy clothing as this can limit the effectiveness of your running analysis (we need to see what the body is doing while you are running!).

During your initial assessment we discuss your goals and history, and complete strength, mobility, and running analysis testing, and you will be provided with a written report from this assessment.

You will then return for a 30 minute session whereby you will be provided with your plan to work towards your running goals.  This will likely include key strength exercises to work on from deficits discovered during the analysis, along with a recommended running program and load management strategy.

Our exercise physiologists will discuss a plan for ongoing appointment where necessary to monitor your progress along your running journey. You will be provided with a visual representation of the data taken during the assessment so you know what the biggest priorities are for your exercise program.
