stroke

Exercise helps prevent stroke.

However once a person is affected by stroke, regular exercise and physical activity can also help reduce the risk of further stroke and improve post-stroke recovery, as well as help manage symptoms of stroke.

Reported benefits include:
  • Improved strength and endurance
  • Improved walking ability and ability to complete day to day activities of daily living
  • Improved balance and coordination
  • Improved flexibility
  • Improved mood
  • Improved alertness and thinking ability

As part of your stroke recovery we will work with you to tailor an exercise program to your condition that includes cardiovascular exercise to reduce incidence of further stroke, flexibility exercises to assist in regaining movement, strength exercise to assist in regaining movement, strength and muscle patterns, and if appropriate balance to assist to decrease risk of a fall and to assist in walking efficiency.

We have a range of different equipment along with aids to help the individual recovering from stoke to get the best out of their exercise program.
